Argentina’s debt dispute escalates

Crisis looms central bank chief returns to job despite president’s dismissal order.

A dispute over debt in Argentina is rapidly escalating into a political crisis after a judge ordered the reinstatement of the central bank chief, a day after Cristina Kirchner, the country’s president, had dismissed him.

Kirchner accused Martin Redrado of failing to fulfill his duties after he refused to comply with an order to use about $6.6bnin currency reserves to help repay nearly $13bn in international debt.
