Venezuela urban farms yield little output

Critics say government project funding farms in cities is failing due to mismanagement.

The Venezuelan government has helped finance hundreds of farms in urban centres, including in the capital, Caracas, over the past decade to make the country less dependent on imports.

The urban farms, located between the city’s tall buildings and wide streets, aim to provide people with healthier and more organic food.

But as the production of crops in the country decreases, critics say the project is failing due to a lack of technical know-how and funding delays.
