Sudan detains anti-government protesters

Demonstrations started after President Bashir’s austerity plan sparked country-wide inflation.

Anti-government protesters in Sudan say their voices are being stifled by the heavy handed response of the authorities.

Activists say hundreds of people are being detained in a crackdown against the demonstrations.

While the state says the majority of the Sudanese people support the government, journalists complain that the authorities have enforced censorship to silence critical voices involved in the protest movement.
