Myanmar reforms failing to hit home

The easing of economic sanctions against Myanmar has had no clear effect for the nation’s poor.

The president of Myanmar is heading to the United States for a landmark visit.

Thein Sein has steered his country through a series of reforms and is hoping the US will now start lifting sanctions.

But after half a century of military rule, many people have yet to feel the effects of the changes, as Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Yangon.
