US Federal Reserve chairman to step down

Janet Yellen to succeed Ben Bernanke, a key player in efforts to limit the impact of the 2007 recession.

Ben Bernanke is set to end his turbulent spell as chairman of the US Federal Reserve.

He was in charge of the US central bank when one of the country’s worst financial crises erupted in 2007. 

His successor, Janet Yellen, will take over as his policy of printing money, quantative easing, looks set to end.
