Iraqi soldiers killed in Anbar bomb attack

Suicide bombers target Iraqi army base in Anbar province, killing at least 14 soldiers, wounding ten, officials say.

Suicide bombers have killed at least 14 soldiers in an attack on a Iraqi military base in the southern city of Ramadi, police sources have told Al Jazeera.

The attackers stole an army vehicle on Friday and detonated it at the army base. At least ten soldiers were injured in the incident that took place at Mustawdah Commercial Street.

There has been intense fighting in the strategic Anbar province, where Ramadi is located, for several days between Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant fighters and government forces.

In a separate development, at least six people were killed in a mortar attack on a mosque in the town of Moqdadiyah in Diyalah province.

Police sources told Al Jazeera that three mortar shells hit the Shia mosque after Friday prayers, also injuring 11 worshippers.
