India’s visa overhaul aims to boost tourism

Tourists from 180 countries can now apply online and collect their visa on arrival at Indian airport.

India will now offer visas on arrival to people from 180 countries, a  move aimed at boosting the tourism industry.

Most foreign nationals currently have to wait weeks before learning whether they will be allowed to enter India after submitting their visa applications.

The new scheme allows tourists to apply online and then receive the green light within five days, before getting their visa at an airport on arrival.
