Tiananmen museum opens in Hong Kong

Museum dedicated to 1989 protests hopes to educate those who do not know much about military crackdown.

The world’s first permanent museum dedicated to the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests has opened in Hong Kong.

Discussion of the violent military crackdown is banned in mainland China.

It is hoped the new facility might educate many who do not know about the deadly event, in which thousands of Chinese anti-government protesters were killed by security forces in Beijing, China’s capital, in 1989.
