Mexico fights crime from the sky

Police helicopter service aims to boost monitoring of suspicious activities and capture criminals much quicker.

Mexico has launched a helicopter service that police are hoping will help cut rising crime rates. It monitors neighbourhoods for suspicious activities from the sky and is able to capture the perpetrators much quicker than patrol cars.

But cartels being driven out of the neigbouring state of Michoacan could put the effectiveness of this new tool in jeopardy.
